• Notes

  According to Bob Mitchell: "Clarissa is found on the 1840 Sumter Co., Alabama US Census with three male children and three female children all under 20 years old. In 1850 Clarissa is found with four children still at home." Since her daughter Frances was married prior to the 1840 census and presumably out of the house by then, adding Frances into the count would mean Elijah and Clarissa had 7 living children by the time of the 1840 census.
