  Page 161 of "Long Island Genealogies" by Mrs. Mary Powell Bunker says that Richard was born 12 Oct 1806 and died 12 Aug 1857. The photo of his tombstone at Find-a-Grave shows an inscription "In Memory of Richard J. Seaman, Died Aug 11, 1857, aged 51y, 9mo, 7d" A transcription of the cemetery is on "Cemeteries of Old Wantagh" which records that Richard "died 11 Aug 1852, age 51yrs, 9 mths, 7dy" Calculation using the data from the tombstone photo gives us a birth date of 4 Nov 1805. 1850 Census Brooklyn Ward 8, Kings Co., New York Richard Seaman 45 M Butcher NY (abt 1805) Ann Seaman 43 F NY Thomas Seaman 12 M NY Jane Seaman 18?
