Mrs. W.E. Ellis Dies; Had Been Wed 62 Years
Word was received here of the death of Mrs. William (Gertrude) Ellis, wife of William E. Ellis, at Desert Hot Springs, California early Saturday morning.
The body will be returned to Petoskey to the Stone Funeral Home and interment will be made this spring in Greenwood Cemetery.
She and Mr. Ellis celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last Sept. 16. They were married in Petoskey in 1903 and met while students at the Graves Business College in Petoskey.
Mrs. Ellis was born Sept. 12, 1880 in Mason county the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey S. Webb who homesteaded in Springvale. Mr. Ellis opened the Ellis Insurance Agency Jan. 1, 1920 and operated it until about 1958 when he sold it.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Raymond L. of San Gabriel, Calif., and William L. of Washington, D.C. and her grandchildren.
